Keyboard Day
This is an exciting day for pianists/keyboard players to get together and play together! The day is open to beginners/wider opportunities players to grade 3+. You will be split into ability groups to work together on specially arranged pieces of music. There will also be a joint piece for all groups to play together as part of the end of the day informal concert to family and friends.  This course is designed for pianists/keyboard players to play together, work on their musicianship skills, make friends and have fun!

Recorder Day
We’ll be celebrating everything we love about our instrument, offering you the chance to experience ensemble playing whilst learning new ways to create music using your recorder.  During the day, you will have the opportunity to work on specially created ensemble pieces both in smaller ability based groups, and as part of a recorder orchestra!  The day is open to Y2-Y6 students, from those who have just mastered the notes BAG all the way up to those who are Grade 5+.  The day will culminate in a performance for families. Come along to discover something new on your recorders!

String Day
This is a chance for all violin, viola, cello and double bass players to come along and meet other local primary and secondary string players, to spend the day together preparing some wonderful string repertoire. We will focus on performance skills and have parts for all levels. RMT String teachers will be able to go over the parts in advance with their pupils if they wish. The day is open to players of all levels, ranging from proficient reading beginners (who must be able to read an open string part fluently) up to higher grade students. There will be opportunities for the most advanced players to mentor some of the younger players. The day will culminate in a performance to parents/carers. This will be a real celebration of string playing in the Borough – please do come and join us!

Percussion Day
An exciting opportunity for drum and percussion students to join together playing in a larger group, where we’ll guide you in teamwork and music-making.  The course will focus on building up pieces and exercises to be played as part of a short informal performance at the end of the session, using a mixture of tuneful, interesting and rhythmic percussion instruments. Suitable for those who are having lessons on drums or percussion with 3 terms or more experience. Instruments are provided, but please bring your own drumsticks, labelled or marked.

Woodwind & Brass Day
Join us for a day of dedicated woodwind and brass focusing on the enjoyment of ensemble playing and working with others.  Led by RMT’s specialist teachers, participants will work on a number of fun pieces throughout the day.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Y3-Y6 students from beginner/wider opportunities level up to grade 3 standard to have fun and to experience the joy of playing as part of a bigger group. The day will culminate in a performance for friends and family.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Vocal Day
The Vocal Day will be an opportunity for students to approach singing from different angles whilst getting to use their voices. We will be looking at important vocal techniques with physical, breathing, and vocal exercises including the all-important warm-ups! Everyone will get the chance to sing together as a group and work on how to blend their voices, whilst working on harmony (singing in parts) and delivering a performance with other singers. We will also focus on the importance of emotions, dynamics and telling the story within the lyrics of a song and how to express these vocally. This will be achieved by using three songs in different styles culminating in a short presentation at the end of the day. We welcome anyone in YR4 – YR7, and the course is tailored for beginners to grade 4 level. Looking forward to singing with you soon!

BandItos (Guitars/Pianos/Keyboards/Drums)
BandItos gives participants who already play guitar, piano/keyboard, or drum kit the chance to improve their skills alongside others who play the same instrument.  Throughout the day we’ll also spend time in informal band settings with participants who play other instruments, jamming the tracks we’ve learnt the parts to in our individual groups.  At the end of the day we’ll invite parents in to see what we’ve been up to in an informal play through gig.
BandItos is open to any pupil in Y3-Y7.  You do not need to have taken an exam to take part but you must have a minimum 1-year’s tuition on your instrument (as a guide you are probably at least an advanced beginner working towards grade 1 level).  If you currently learn acoustic or classical guitar, you can still come to BandItos; just let us know on the form if you need to borrow an electric guitar for the day.  Come and join us!
To take part please complete the form on the BandItos page  which will be published shortly.
